Ring Busted For Smuggling Meth, Pot To South Jersey

Authorities: Drugs Mailed Or Smuggled From Mexico

New Jersey and federal law authorities say they've broken up a network that brought marijuana and crystal meth from Mexico to southern New Jersey.

By Friday morning, 28 people had been arrested in New Jersey and Ohio.

Authorities say the drugs moved for the southern Mexico state of Jalisco to McAllen, Texas.

They say the marijuana was usually mailed from there to various people scattered around southern New Jersey, and that the meth was smuggled to Columbus, Ohio and then driven to Hammonton, N.J. to be distributed.

"We believe that in dismantling this drug trafficking organization, we have made a significant dent in the suburban drug trade in Camden County and other counties in South Jersey," says Camden County Prosecutor Warren Faulk.

Authorities say the group brought about 4 to 6 pounds of meth and 100 to 150 pounds of marijuana to New Jersey weekly.

They say the drugs were sold in homes and bars or delivered to buyers.
