Drexel Library Evacuated By Police

Officers Were Responding To Robbery

Part of Drexel University campus was evacuated while police searched for a gunman Friday night.

Students evacuated as SWAT teams rushed into the Drexel University campus library Friday night. The cops were looking for an armed thief who was seen walking into the library to hide from police. He and a accomplice are wanted for holding up the driver of a food delivery truck just blocks away from the school.

As police rushed to the library to look for the gunman who jumped out of his car another patrol car headed to the library was involved in an accident crashing with another vehicle.

All those involved had minor injuries.

Finally police realize with the help of surveillance video the gunman they were looking for walked into the library and then right out blending in with other students concealing his escape.

"We think he is armed and on the loose. We are confident he is no longer in the area," LT. John Walker told Fox 29 Friday.

For students on Drexel's campus Friday's disturbance was unsettling. Investigators are reviewing security camera video tonight trying to identify the guy they are looking for. They are also interrogating his alleged accomplice. Two guns have been recovered.
