It could take at least another week to get stranded travelers home to Europe.
Here in Philadelphia, a group of international travelers are hunkering down at a youth hostel on Bank Street in Old City. Stranded student Enes Derynck told Fox 29's Shawnette Wilson "We love America and the airport in Philadelphia we didn't get any help." Their bags are also missing. Derynck and a friend are desperately trying to get home to Belgium. They found Apple Hostel after their airline directed them to a hotel that they could not afford.
Hostel manager Marc Des Marais told Fox 29 he hasn't seen anything like this since 9/11. He's concerned about what the volcanic ash could mean from summer travelers. He's worried European travelers might think twice about booking vacations to the area because they don't want to get stuck here. Des Marais and his staff are working around the clock to accommodate the influx of guests. There is still room for females who need a place to stay. Rooms for men are full.
