ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - Officials in Atlantic City have found a man's body under the Central Pier.
Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel says the body was discovered while responding to a fire at the Central Pier on the Atlantic City Boardwalk Saturday night.
Housel says Investigators have not yet determined the man's identity. Atlantic County Medical Examiner Dr. Hydow Park will perform an autopsy Sunday to determine the cause of death. Initial evidence suggests that the man's death may be unrelated to this fire.
Two other people were discovered under the pier. They were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. One was treated and released and the other is being treated for smoke inhalation. Their names have not been released.
Housel says the fire may have been caused by homeless people trying to keep warm.
Atlantic City fire and police responded to the fire, which started at approximately 5 p.m. The Central Pier is located at Tennessee Avenue and the Boardwalk.
The Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate.
