PHILADELPHIA - It has happened again – kids beating each other in a Philadelphia school.
This time it was in the cafeteria of William Sayre High School, and you saw this video of students in an all out brawl first on FOX.
So, what is going on in our schools, and is anything being done to protect the kids who are there to learn?
FOX 29 spent all day and night trying to talk to the school district leadership Tuesday.
The district's head of school safety, Chief Inspector Myron Patterson, refused to talk to us.
And so did the principal of Samuel Huey Middle School. That's where more exclusive fight video was shot by a former student.
One official who did talk was Academic Chief Penny Nixon.
"We're not asking teachers to break up fights. We're not asking teachers to put themselves in harm's way. We're saying call for assistance and we will support you," Nixon said.
District officials met with several principals, updating them on the bullying policy, among other things.
But many parents and teachers say they want more security. The district recently laid off nearly 100 part time officers.
