Craigslist Robber Gets 19 Mos. To 5 Yrs.

A former eastern Pennsylvania college student has been sentenced to 19 months to five years for posting fake online ads to lure victims and rob them.

Police said 22-year-old Corey Jackson of East Stroudsburg posed as a buyer interested in jewelry but stole expensive rings from the sellers, and also offered the sale of a computer but wrestled the
laptop back after taking the cash. Investigators said he used the free classifieds site Craigslist to find his victims.

Jackson agreed in March to plead guilty to theft and robbery charges. He apologized in court and said he was a senior at East Stroudsburg University and needed the money. Northampton County
President Judge F.P. Kimberly McFadden told him Thursday that she was disturbed that he had repeated the crime.

Defense attorney Joseph Yannuzzi said his client hopes to one day salvage his education.
