Despite Rain Dads Get Their Due

Families are trying to make the most of this cool and cloudy Father's Day, opting for activities indoors. Fox 29's Robin Taylor talked to them about this year's June Gloom and what they're doing to beat it.

It's yet another dreary wet day. And Shannon Riley isn't happy, "It's depressing."

For those of you who are counting, it's the 15th soggy day so far this month. That's six whole days in June without rain. And guess what? There's more in the forecast.

"We're building an ark currently and we think we're going to get plenty of use out of it in the next week or so," joked a Cherry Hill man spent the day at the mall.

LaDonna Carter echoed what most of us are feeling, "I am so tired of all this rain. I just want it to be nice so we can go to the beach and have a nice day."

"I have a pool and it's just sitting there getting rained in. That's about it. A lot of work for a big bathtub outside," said Paul Cerminara.

Normally, the Woodbine Swim Club in Merchantville, New Jersey would be filled with kids enjoying a dip on a hot summer day. But this month it's empty, with only a few children brave enough to jump in the chilly water that hasn't had a chance to warm up.

Instead of shivering, most families opted for something indoors like bowling. We found Nina Weiss at Sproul Lanes in Springfield, Delaware County, where kids bowl for free, "They're getting bored. We can't go to the pool and we just enjoy bowling."

Bowling Alleys were filled with families that had given up on the traditional Father's Day Bar-B-Que.

"It's father's day and it's a nice family thing to do with everybody," said Steve Weiss whose young kids were playing bumper ball.

Movie theaters and the Malls were other options to beat the duldrums that usually hit in January or February not June. At least in the malls, Linda Tran says there are good deals, "It's so much sales. A lot of sales. Can't beat the price, especially at Macy's yesterday."

But Ed Finegan says even that seems like a poor substitute for summer, ""There's a lot I'd rather be doing, like be warm, 90 degrees, that would be nice."
