Elderly Woman Beaten In DE Home Invasion

New Castle County police say an 81-year-old woman was beaten during a home invasion. Police say the suspects entered her home on McGovern Terrace in Cleland Heights through the back door late Friday.

The woman was in her bedroom when the suspects assaulted her and they ransacked closets and drawers before leaving.

Officials say the woman was taken to a hospital with head and facial injuries and was in stable condition. They say a neighbor reported hearing the woman scream for help and say that she was robbed, while leaning out of her second-story window. The neighbor checked on the woman and called 911.

Police say the woman wasn't able to provide police with a description of the attackers.
