Delinquent taxpayers beware: Philadelphia wants you to pay up.
In an effort to bring in money to help the cash-strapped city, Mayor Michael Nutter is pledging to crackdown on tax cheats.
A sheriff's sale is set for April 2 to collect from three Center City attorneys who owe the city a combined $350,000 in back taxes.
One of the lawyers, Robert Gamburg, says he is making arrangements to start a payment plan.
Mayor Nutter said, "We are very serious about anyone who owes this city money you will pay your fair share. Everyone else is paying and so you will pay."
The city's comptroller estimates about half a billion dollars in real estate taxes are owed to the city.
Philadelphia has a billion-dollar budget deficit over the next five years.
