Errant Shell Killed Fireworks Employee

QUAKERTOWN, PA - Authorities have identified the 19-year-old worker killed in an eastern Pennsylvania Fourth of July fireworks accident.

Fire officials say David Allen Walker was working for Zambelli Fireworks Internationale when a shell exploded on the ground during Saturday's fireworks display in Quakertown, about 40 miles north of
Philadelphia.

Debris hit Walker in the chest and neck and he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Walker lived in West Middlesex in western Pennsylvania, about 60 miles north of Pittsburgh. Zambelli is based nearby.

Quakertown police Chief Scott McElree says state and county authorities are investigating along with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

A phone message left with Zambelli Fireworks Internationale on Monday morning was not immediately returned
