AC Waitress Firings Age Discrimination?

Casino: Process Fair, Objective; More Jobs Offered

PHILADELPHIA - Is the revamped look for Resorts Casino's cocktail waitresses just a sexy suit or an excuse for firing middle-aged women?

A lawsuit is possible after 15 cocktail waitresses were told they can no longer serve customers at the Atlantic City casino.

The women were let go because apparently a modeling agency didn't think they looked good in the new uniforms after a photo shoot, according to three of the woman who talked to Fox 29 News.

The uniforms go with the casino's new Roaring 20's theme, meant to capitalize on the popularity of the HBO show "Boardwalk Empire."

The servers' union says the women were let go because they were too old, and now all of the waitresses are under 40.

Resorts says the selection process was fair and objective, and the servers were offered other jobs within the casino.

The uniform was Fox 29's "question of the day" on Thursday. Of those who voted before the Fox 29 News at 6, 55 percent called it raunchy, 27 percent said it was just alright. Only 18 percent called it racy.

Local attorney Danny Cevallos joined us to talk more about the case and what the two sides would have to prove to win the potential court case.
