SEPTA Transpass Sparks Controversy

Transpass Expired At Noon Monday

SEPTA riders are thrilled trolleys, buses, and subway trains are running again. But many riders are outraged that transpasses purchased last week were only honored until noon Monday.

SEPTA and Transport Workers Local 234 worked out an agreement overnight Sunday.

Fox 29 spoke with riders who are happy things are back up and running, but many can't believe their transpasses expired at noon.

If you didn't use your pass or have it punched last week, you are entitled to a refund. If you have a monthly pass and did not have it punched for last week, you can get $20 toward your next purchase. You must also turn in the pass to get a new one.

"If it got punched, that's our indication that it was used last week because people could use their transpasses on regional rail within the city limit," says SEPTA spokesperson Jerri Williams. "If they used it, it's not eligible for a credit or an exchange."

SEPTA recommends going back to the place that you purchased the pass to process the refund.

For information about refunds, you can call 215-580-7800.
