PHILADELPHIA - That's not Old Faithful you're looking at. A water main break is shooting a geyser of water into the air in Southwest Philadelphia.
Shortly after 6 a.m., SkyFox was over the scene of the water main break reported at 54th Street and Whitby Avenue. Water was spraying higher than nearby buildings.
Of course, with temperatures in the 20s, that water was freezing on everything, including overhead power lines on nearby utility poles. And the water was still going more than an hour later.
Traffic detours are in effect in the area. You can use 52nd Street to get around the scene.
