Fox 29 has confirmed that Arlene Ackerman, the head of Philadelphia schools, has received a $65,000 performance bonus.
Robert Archie, the head of the School Reform Commission released a statement saying Ackerman went though an extensive evaluation process and exceeded all 21 benchmarks.
The 20% performance bonus is outlined in her 2008 employment agreement. Ackerman currently earns $325,000 per year.
Archie adds that Ackerman's compensation package is in-line with that of her predecessor, Paul Valla.
Ackerman has committed 1% of her bonus to student scholarships. She also dedicated $1,000 to the Widener School for Severely Disabled Children.
According to her contract, Ackerman is also entitled to a retention bonus of $100,000 if she remains with the school system through June 11, 2011.
