What would lead someone to endanger a child in their care, just so they could spend time in a casino?
Experts say the answer is simple: gambling in some people-become an addiction.
But just as gambling opponents had warned several years ago, there are far more cases of compulsive gambling that fly below the radar.
Numbers from the Council On Compulsive Gambling In Pennsylvania show monthly hotline calls for information or help on casino issues alone, from January through June 2010, averaged about 300 calls per month.
Then, in July, as table games arrived and gaming was expanded, the number of hotline calls jumped to 412.
