Another lawsuit has been leveled against former Philadelphia Housing Authority Executive Director Carl Green and the PHA.
Fox 29’s Dave Schratwieser reports that a former maintenance worker John Tatum has filed a Federal lawsuit saying he was fired because he blew the whistle on fraud, waste, theft and inefficiency. Tatum is seeking more that $100,000 from PHA and Greene.
Per Tatum’s lawsuit, he says he supervised over 400 PHA workers at one point as they repaired homes for the poor. When he suspected large amounts of building materials from Home Depot were being ripped off, he reported it to his supervisors and Greene. Tatum was then demoted and put in charge of just two people.
When Tatum came forward to complain about service repairs being shifted around and closed out so that Carl Greene could get a bigger end of the year performance bonus, he was accused of not doing his job and fired.
This is the 10th lawsuit filed against the PHA and Greene since he was fired by the PHA Board a few months ago.
PHA Board chairman John Street hired Richard Sprague to defend the PHA and has vowed that Greene will not get another dime out of the PHA.
A grand jury is still talking to former high-ranking employees regarding millions of dollars in stolen PHA building supplies and we would see movement there in the coming weeks, so stay tuned.
