PHILADELPHIA - Closing arguments are set to begin Tuesday in the trial of a man accused of killing two retired police officers working as armored car guards outside a Northeast Philadelphia bank in October 2007.
Sixty-five-year-old William Widmaier and 54-year-old Joseph Alullo were killed in the shooting. A third guard received minor injuries.
Police say Mustafa Ali, 38, confessed to the shooting and led them to the murder weapons following his arrest.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys have been placed under a gag order by the judge in the case.
Ali, formerly Shawn Steele, was convicted of robbing five banks in Philadelphia in the early 1990s.
On Feb. 2, an armored car guard who survived a robbery took the stand in the murder trial of Mustafa Ali.
Joseph Walczak, 72, was inside the armored car and hit by flying glass.
Prosecutors say Ali confessed. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
