The two local Catholic high schools are on the list of schools the Archdiocese of Philadelphia wants to close by this summer.

At least 16 schools of the 49 schools on the closing list have appealed their case to a Blue Ribbon Commission and the Archdiocese.

In January, the Archdiocese said it would have a final decision by February 15th on the schools that appealed, but that decision could be delayed.

The Archdiocese invited any school to file an appeal to discuss the economics behind the decision to consolidate schools.

It said all factors would be considered during the appeals process.

In Bucks County, Holy Trinity, St. Michael the Archangel and St. Mark's were to appeal.

St. Francis de Sales in Delaware County would also appeal, as well Conshohocken Catholic in Montgomery County.

In Philadelphia, Holy Spirit, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Holy Cross, Our Lady of Ransom, St. Gabriel and St. Laurentius would appeal.

In addition, St. John The Baptist in Bucks County said on January 11th it may not close at all

The Archdioceses set up two Review Committees-one for parish elementary schools and one for high schools-to facilitate requests.

Pastors, elementary school principals and high school presidents were allowed to present an appeal
