Large fires in Camden are becoming all too common and quite unsurprising.
Wednesday’s two-alarm blaze at an old warehouse is suspicious and it's the fourth in a series of suspicious multi-alarm fires that's broken out since early June.
One of those is confirmed arson while the others are getting a good hard look from city, state, and federal fire investigators.
There are a lot of issues making these fires so scary: suspicious causes, questions over manpower, and even missing equipment.
But in two fires, brass fittings were stolen by thieves from hydrants, looking to make a buck.
In the most-recent fire, a hydrant, just one block away from the fire, went unused because its brass fittings had been taken.
Now some local scrap dealers are warning anyone who takes these fittings to stay away from them.
