CO Incident Sends Family To Hospital

WYNNEWOOD, Pa. - Montgomery County officials say a carbon-monoxide incident sent four people to the hospital.

Fire officials said the four family members were taken to Lankenau Hospital for observation after complaining of nausea, vomiting and dizziness. The exposure happened at their home on the 1400 block of Hampstead Road in Wynnewood.

Officials said a carbon-monoxide detector showed extremely high levels of the gas.

Fire officials said there were no serious injuries, but exact conditions of the family members were not known Tuesday morning.

Investigators told Fox 29 the cause was a section of chimney flue extension that apparently broke just above the roof during last weekend's storms, but the family didn't know it. So the fireplace smoke barely cleared the roof and was re-circulating back into the house.
