You would think turning run-down properties into new homes would be a good thing but it's a plan that's launched an emotional controversy in one local community. We're talking about Philadelphia's point breeze section. Neighbors there say a developer's plan to build high-end homes is tearing apart their community.

Tammy Daniles says she feels like she's being pushed out of her home in south Philadelphia's Point Breeze neighborhood. She's like many others that struggle to make ends meet and oppose a proposal by developer Ori Feibush to build 13 high priced apartments. They say it will raise the cost of living for those who are barely making it as is.

They're among the many that flooded the Mount Zion Pentacostal Church for a meeting on the proposal before it goes to the zoning committee. Supporters told Fox 29 they see new housing as a good thing. Developer Ori Feibush says it's not about pushing anyone out but trying to help build up the quality of life.

The site where those apartments could go has been abandoned for years. But people we talked to say if anything should go there, it should be a small business to help the community. The proposal now goes before the zoning board.
