Imagine dropping your teenager off at summer camp and getting a phone call that they've gone into cardiac arrest.
That's what happened to 17-year old Cody Fisher over the summer. Fisher, his mother Alisa Herschaft, and the team of doctors who saved the teenager talked about the life-saving treatment on "Good Day."
Fisher was a camp counselor at Camp Nock-a-Mixon. He was rushed to Doylestown Hospital, in cardiac arrest, where doctors put him into medically induced hypothermia. Dr. Robert Sangrigoli explained when Fisher arrived at the hospital his brain function was very low. The goal was to preserve brain function.
Fisher's mom said she was out of the country and rushed back to be with her son. Both mom and son say it was a slow recovery, but Cody is doing well.
