Cops Kill Dog After Raiding Wrong House

PHILADELPHIA - City police shot and killed a dog after it allegedly bit one of them Wednesday night when they mistakenly raided the wrong house looking for drugs, according to officials.

According to police, a narcotics officer had sought medical treatment at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for a dog bite to his leg, which he suffered shortly before 9 p.m. inside a home along Pennsgrove Street.

A police official on the scene said officers had been conducting a raid that should have been targeted at 4211 Pennsgrove St., but they entered 4213 Pennsgrove St., which is not far from North 42nd Street in West Philadelphia.

After entering the home, a dog inside the residence allegedly attacked one of the officers and was shot and killed.

The officer’s injuries were not thought to be life threatening.
