CAMDEN, N.J. - DRPA CEO John Matheussen says the tolls must go on....
Matheussen answered questions on NJN's "On the Record". The DRPA is $1.1 billion dollars in debt. Matheussen says the toll-hike is needed to keep bridges operational and safe. He says he knows his agency needs to regain public trust, but says the money will go to the intended projects.
Fox 29's Sean Tobin spoke with people today about the toll hike. They say while they don't necessarily trust the organization, they don't feel there is much they can do if the agency decides to raise the price.
While the CEO calls for the hike to take effect, some of the the DRPA commissioners say no way and last week on "Good Day" Vice-chairman Jeff Nash told Fox 29 that the board will not consider an increase until the public knows the money is being handled correctly.
A board meeting to discuss the hike is scheduled for this Wednesday, August 18th.
