PHILADELPHIA - A former school police officer is spilling the beans about the videos we've shown you, of the violence in city schools. He says the smacking attacks, chaotic classrooms, and full fledged girl fights are just the beginning. Apparently this happens all the time.
Tonight he's only speaking to Fox 29's Chris O'Connell.
Although the Philadelphia School District reports incidents of school violence is down 4% this year, a former school police officer says there's a reason for the downward trend. Schools are not reporting everything they see.
Blunt words from a former Philadelphia School police officer Donald Lewis who says images we showed you happen every day inside Philadelphia Schools.
Lewis who was laid off last September after 3 years says he knows first hand incidents involving violence, weapons or drug are never reported. He says it's happened at Bartram, University City and Parkway West high schools where he's worked.
The school district tells us a new incident reporting policy has been put in place this year and will investigate all reports.
Since instituting a new policy and bringing in a new security chief, the school district says they are doing a much better job in reporting these incidents since than ever before but they don't know about them until people come forward.
