A cat-killing Great Dane and soccer star David Beckham were the big winners in the Twitter world for the TV ads shown on Super Bowl 46.

To some people, the ads are bigger than the game, and the success of an ad can make or break some companies.

The site used the total number of peak Twitter messages as a barometer.
Ads featuring Clint Eastwood and Regis Philbin took the third and fourth spots.
The least-effective ads were for Cadillac, Century 21, Lexus, CareerBuilder and Hulu.
But the big winner in the ad space may be digital services like Twitter and Facebook, which saw big traffic spikes during the game when ads aired on TV.
“This was truly a watershed year for social media and the Super Bowl,” said Edward Boches, Chief Innovation Officer at Mullen. “With nearly 200 million people on Twitter and 2/3’s of all smart-phone owners using social media while watching TV, just about every brand built interactive elements into their commercials, knowing that the true measurement of success these days is immediate consumer reaction and long-term consumer engagement.”
In other key measures, the most liked brands M&M’s (Sentiment +41%), Best Buy (Sentiment +30%) and Doritos (Sentiment +29%) .
The least-liked brands were Go Daddy (Sentiment -10%), Cars.com (Sentiment -2%) and Lexus (Sentiment -1%).
And the ads that got the least bang for the buck were Cadillac, Century 21 and Lexus.
