Two Philadelphia kids, filming themselves as they smack their fellow classmates, and what's worse, a teacher was in the room when it happened. Parents want to know how this was allowed to happen. The video-taped attack took place at the John Paul Jones Middle School in Port Richmond.
Who’s going to be the next victim on smack cam? Inside an 8th grade classroom at the John Paul Jones middle school last week, a student used his cell phone to video tape himself slapping students. At one point a second student punches a boy in the head the video was posted on you tube. The incident has parents incensed.
The mother of one student was hit during the so called "smack cam" video taping session. She asked Fox 29 to conceal her identity and that of her eighth grader for fear of revenge. She is angry over what happened to her son.
How could this happen in a classroom? It's really very surprising to us and it should not happen. School officials denounced the incident and opened an investigation on Tuesday after complaints from parents and seeing the video. School officials confirm that a substitute teacher was present in the chaotic classroom during the incident and the video taping.
District officials say they've identified two students involved in the school smacking episode and the videotaping. They've been suspended for at least five days.
