When Philadelphia could not come up with the money to keep it’s pools open, it reached out to local businesses.
A local bank has stepped in and now the city will be able to cool off all summer in its' public pools.
First Niagara just pumped in nearly a half a million dollars to allow the city’s 70 pools to open this month.
The local bank will also donate another quarter-million dollars to provide swim lessons to thousands of kids.
The bank will provide management advice to the city’s recreational department to ensure the pools will open year after year.
