PHILADELPHIA - At the Burl-Moor-Driben Animal Hospital in Moorestown they are still buzzing. Dr. Ian Driben is a national celebrity –newly minted by fate.
When the Phillies were battling in the bottom of the 4th inning Thursday night, Dr. Driben was returning to his seat with a double order of fries and a diet coke.
Jason Werth was up at bat and fouled one off.
Driben reaches out and very nonchalantly catches the ball. He never broke stride. He did not spill his drink. Not one fry hit the ground.
Amazing.
Fox 29’s Bruce Gordon brings you the story of Dr. Driben.
Ian’s father, Dr. Charles Driben, founded the animal hospital 43 years ago. He is a Phillies season ticker holder and was 10 feet behind when his son made that grab. He was happy his son did not drop the fries!
Ian had a different reaction, “ Don't do anything silly right now. Don't trip. Don't drop the food afterwards. Just keep on moving. Next thing you know you start celebrating and you watch me going headfirst down the stairs."
The video of Driben's catch has- predictably- gone viral- he's already got the clip on his I-phone.
Now, this local vet, who loves his craft and all the animals he helps out, will forever be know as the guy who caught the foul ball and without dropping the fries.
