BENSALEM, Pa. - Remember the days when you sent your child to school with a few dollars and prayed they spent the money on a healthy lunch? Now technology allows parents to fully monitor what happens when their child hits the cafeteria.
At Cornwells Elementary School in Bensalem, most kids pay for lunch by pressing a five-digit code into a touch pad. Their folks have stocked their account with cash, like E-ZPass, but the system also allows mom and dad to check up on their kids. What are they buying, and how much?
This system allows parents to flag their kids' account for spending too much, or for inappropriate snacks, or for buying food to which they're allergic.
