WILMINGTON, Del. - Christine O'Donnell's political action committee and her Senate campaign had a combined $35,100 at the end of 2011, according to her latest campaign finance reports.

O'Donnell shocked Delaware's Republican party by upsetting U.S. Rep. Mike Castle in the 2010 GOP primary for the Senate seat formerly held by Vice President Joe Biden. She lost in the general election to Democrat Chris Coons.

O'Donnell set a state record by spending more than $6.1 million. Overall, she took in more than $7 million, most in the final two months of the campaign, and left nearly $1 million unspent.

The (Wilmington) News Journal reported Sunday that the records show most of the leftover money has been spent paying lawyers and accountants to defend O'Donnell against election-financing investigations, filing counterclaims and launching ChristinePAC.
