Agents from the Pennsylvania SPCA, including George Bengal, removed more than 60 animals from a home in the Northeast section of Philadelphia Monday evening.
Officers responded to a call about the conditions of rabbits on the property of a house on Hellerman Street. A search warrant was obtained, allowing the agents to survey the property and access the damage. The unsanitary conditions were clearly visible from the street.
When the rescue was completed, 22 rabbits, 5 dogs, 7 guinea pigs, 8 doves, 22 cats, 1 pigeon. 1 duck, 1 turtle and 1 hamster were removed from the property.
The property was deemed unfit for human habitation and L & I has sealed the property.
