The Ride The Ducks tour group will resume rides in Philadelphia's Schuylkill River this week, about nine months after two Hungarian tourists were killed in a boating accident in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Business Journal reported two weeks that such a move was likely soon.
“Recent research indicates Philadelphians are looking forward to having the Ducks back,” said Ducks President Chris Herschend in a statement. “Nearly 84 percent were supportive of re-opening. It’s also important to point out that we have always adhered to a rigid set of safety standards that meet or exceed USCG regulations."
"The City of Philadelphia, in a statement released today from the Managing Director’s Office, publically approved RTD’s operating plan; that action follows the previous approval of the United States Coast Guard to resume operations last August," said the company.
Gone from the tour, which will feature a briefer boat ride in the Schuylkill, will be the noise "quackers" handed out to tourists.
The quackers will only be used for the last part of the tour, on the street.
A new safety plan calls for boats to stay within 100 feet of shore. They will also not go into the water if any large boat is within half-a-mile.
