PHILADELPHIA - SEPTA had a clear message for commuters Tuesday night, that service may be suspended on Wednesday as a safety measure.
But so far Wednesday morning most Septa routes are running. Regional rails and buses are running with some delays. The El and Broad Street line are running, as well as the trolleys.
In a statement Tuesday, SEPTA said it will operate its transportation system “for as long as safely possible” during the snowstorm, but “customers should be prepared for the possible cancellation of service, on a route by route basis, as the storm progresses.”
SEPTA will give the public one-hour’s notice of a train, bus or trolley suspension on its Web site (SEPTA.org) and through media outlets like Fox 29.
SEPTA's Twitter account will also have updates and information is also available by calling SEPTA Customer Service at (215) 580-7800.
Regional Rail service also will operate with reduced capacity on all lines. Significant delays can be expected as the storm progresses, SEPTA says.
SEPTA strongly recommends that commuters heading toward Center City from outlying areas use the Broad Street Subway and Market Frankford El.
Both subway lines will also operate throughout the night time hours, tomorrow night, on a half-hourly basis.
Customized Community Transportation (CCT) which provides reserved transportation for senior citizens and the disabled will operate tomorrow only for customers with reservations for dialysis treatment.
Bus routes which normally operate in private areas such as corporate business parks, shopping malls and college campuses will not enter those properties
