PHILADELPHIA - An analysis of 11 teen mob attacks in Philadelphia since 2008 shows only four incidents would have occured after the new curfew times imposed by Mayor Michael Nutter this week.
In fact, all 11 incidents happened before the previous 12 a.m. weekend curfew for teens between 13 and 18 years of age.
On Monday, Nutter placed a 9 p.m. weekend curfew on teens in parts of the city as part of new measure to fight against violence.
The city’s previous weekend curfew law stated that on Fridays and Saturdays, children under the age of 13 must be home by 10:00 p.m., and young people between the ages of 13 and 18 must be home by 12:00 a.m.
But in the 11 publicized incidents we reviewed, just four happened after 9 p.m., with one of the attacks occuring at 9:15 p.m. (based on an eyewitness report from Fox 29 producers) and another at approximatley 9:30 p.m.
The majority happened much earlier in the day, with many incidents not on the weekend.
