Vincent Fumo To Be Resentenced Nov. 9

A federal judge ruled that former state Sen. Vincent Fumo will be resentenced Nov. 9 after originally giving him 4-1/2 years in prison.

Senior U.S. District Judge Ronald Buckwalter issued the new date on Monday after originally giving Fumo the lesser sentence, which was far below the 15 or more years that were sought by prosecutors. Co-defendant Ruth Arnao will be resentenced Nov. 16.

A jury in 2009 convicted Fumo of defrauding the state Senate, a museum and a South Philadelphia nonprofit of millions. The Democrat was a wealthy power broker during his 30-year political career. Fumo, 68, didn't the hearing. He's in custody in Kentucky.
