Volunteer Firefighters Charged With Arson

Two Deptford, N.J.  Fire Department volunteer firefighters face arson charges for a January incident.

Deptford Township Police Department in conjunction with Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office arrested the two Deptford Fire Department volunteer firefighters on February 3rd.

They were believed to be involved in an arson at 1006 Cattell Road in Deptford Township on January 25, 2012.

Lewis Brooks, 19, and Michael Petrilak, 22, both of Deptford, were arrested after an extensive investigation.

Chief Daniel Murphy credited the conclusion of this successful investigation to the collective efforts and perseverance of all the detectives involved with this case.

Brooks and Petrilak were charged with Aggravated Arson and Conspiracy. Both are currently lodged in Gloucester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 full cash bail.
