TOMS RIVER, N.J. - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is warning of a doomsday scenario if the legislature doesn't approve his property tax reforms.
Christie pitched the reforms during a town hall meeting Tuesday in Toms River.
When a new property tax cap goes into effect, it's going to put pressure on local governments. If they continue to spend the same, they're going to have trouble, Christie warned.
"And if this governorship is going to be about anything, this governorship is going to be about restoring common sense and fiscal sanity to government," Christie said. "And, at the end of four years, if that is what I've done, whether you re-elect me or not, I would have done the job you sent me here to do."
Christie will hold another town hall meeting Wednesday in Clifton.
