As the new Delaware River Port Authority's Audit Committee meets Friday morning for a second time, news is already being made by two board members.
That $54 million-plus in unspent money should be frozen and not spent, they say.
Pennsylvania Auditor General Jack Wagner sent a letter to the DRPA Chairman John Estey saying there may be better use for the money. And board member John Dougherty says no way should the money be used for anything except stopping that planned toll hike next year from $4 to $5.
Both men want an explanation of where that money came from and why no one has brought it up before a report Sunday in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Some of the money was targeted to be spent on those super criticized economic development projects, like the Presidents House at independence Hall.
And you may get a chance to have your own input starting today. The DRPA is now looking for commuters to be part of its newly created Citizens Advisory Committee. For more information on how to apply, click here .
