Watchdog: Audit US Rep. Andrews' Spending

Trip Coincided With Daughter's Recording Session

HADDON HEIGHTS, N.J. - A Washington political watchdog is calling for an audit of campaign spending by U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews after a report that the New Jersey Democrat used $11,000 for a trip to California.

The head of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics says she wants to know whether Andrews had legitimate political business in Los Angeles. She told The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill the Federal Elections Commission should examine the trip.

The visit coincided with the congressman's 16-year-old daughter's music recording session in Los Angeles.

Andrews told the paper he did nothing wrong.

After coming under scrutiny last year for spending campaign money to take his family to a wedding in Scotland, Andrews reimbursed more than $13,000 to his campaign. The campaign donated the money to a charity for homeless veterans.
