NJ Lawmakers To Oppose TSA Screenings

PHILADELPHIA - New Jersey lawmakers will introduce legislation Monday to oppose the new screening procedures at the airport.

The resolution urges Congress to immediately review the new TSA screening procedures and reports of passenger abuse occurring at our nation's airports.

A press conference is happening Monday at the New Jersey Statehouse.

Just this weekend, a man in California refused to go through a full body scanner and said "no" to the pat down. He recorded his encounter with the TSA.

The man was escorted out by security. He says American Airlines refunded his money.

Several groups are blasting the new security measures, saying the TSA is going too far.

Fox 29 News spoke to Jim Babb, the local co-founder of a website called WeWontFly.com. It had 70,000 hits the first week.

Babb is promoting "National Opt Out Day." People are being encouraged not to fly or to opt out of the choice to go through body scanners on Wednesday, Nov. 24, the day before Thanksgiving and one of the busiest travel days.

He’s hoping that so many people opt out of the scanners it will clog the airports in hopes of bringing awareness of the strict new TSA security measures.

Fox 29's Chris O'Connell has more in this video report.
