PHILADELPHIA - We would say this isn't your grandma's canning, but it IS!
We've all started to think about ways to cut costs. Last summer when prices at the grocery store started to rise, we saw more and more people going out to their gardens and growing their own food.
This season... many are taking the next step, canning their own food as a great way to store the fruits and veggies you grow or pick from local farms.
Mareesa Mclellan is a fabulous Philly food blogger and author of FoodInJars.com and says canning can really save you money if you're willing to put a little time and effort into it.
Maressa teaches canning classes at Fosters Homewares in Old City and the last one was sold out! The next class is July 11th. Here are the details on her upcoming classes: http://www.foodinjars.com/canning-classes/
