How To Cash In On Your Appliance

PHILADELPHIA - Who could forget the Cash for Clunkers program of 2009!?

But it's not the only rebate program the government promised us.

Consumer Reporter Michelle Buckman has the 'Real Deal' on the Cash for Appliances program.

The State of Delaware will implement a mail-in rebate program that will help residents replace older, inefficient appliances with new, efficient ENERGY STAR® qualified models.

The program began in December 2009.

Eligible products include:
Dishwashers
Room air conditioners
Gas condensing water heaters
Gas storage water heaters
Gas tankless water heaters
Residents are encouraged to recycle their old appliances.
At the Home Depot in Wilmington, DE Fox 29 learned even more details about exactly how much you can get back on each appliance.
$100 Rebate on Energy Star Qualified Refrigerators
$75 on Energy Star Qualified Front-Load Washers
$50 on Energy Star Qualified Top-Load Washers
$30 on Energy Star Qualified Diswashers
$25 on Energy Star Qualified Dehumidifiers

The program is tentatively scheduled to begin in April 2010. Residents may be able to "reserve" rebates in advance; the program will end when funds are depleted.

Oil furnaces
Gas furnaces
Oil boilers
Gas boilers
Residents are encouraged to recycle their old appliances.

The State of New Jersey will implement an instant and mail-in rebate program that will help residents replace older, inefficient appliances with new, efficient ENERGY STAR® qualified and ultra-efficient models.

The rebate program for water heaters and heating and cooling equipment is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2010. Rebates for refrigerators, clothes washers, and dishwashers are anticipated in April 2010 and are subject to availability. Rebates will end when funds are depleted.

Refrigerators
Clothes washers
Dishwashers
Gas storage water heaters
Gas tankless water heaters
Electric heat pump water heaters
Solar water heaters (gas back-up)
Oil furnaces
Gas furnaces
Gas boilers
Oil boilers
Central air conditioners
Air source heat pumps
Geothermal heat pumps
Residents are encouraged to recycle their old appliances, and can receive a larger rebate by recycling their refrigerators.
