Phillies Fans Revel In Game 1 Victory

Trash Talk Gives Way To World Series Worry In N.Y.

PHILADELPHIA - Fans in Philadelphia were living it up during Wednesday night's big series-opening win, especially after all of the trash talking that's been going on.

Excited fans of all ages across the city were decked out in their Phillies red and hyped-up after the victory.

It was quiet Thursday morning at places like 30th Street Station after everyone stayed up late to watch the game, Fox 29's Nefertiti Jaquez reported. But those who live in Philadelphia but commute to work in New York and have been taking the brunt of abuse from Yankee fans said they're going to go rub it in a little.

And they're hoping for a repeat Thursday night. Goverage of game two begins at 7 p.m. on Fox 29.

In New York right now, the tabloid trash talking has ended suddenly and the World Series worries have begun.

The Yankees were shot down with their ace, and so were their expectations in the Bronx of a Yankees sweep, Fox 29's Steve Keeley reported outside the stadium.

Big-game, big-time, bright-lights experience might have helped the Phillies, as 18 of their team members have played on a World Series team. Only eight Yankees have played in any World Series, and only half of them, four, have been world champions.

Where there were hundreds waiting for tickets in the rain outside Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, fans were in the single digits camping out early Thursday morning, hoping to get into game two.

By the way, all of those Yankee fans "Good Day" showed who waited two days in the driving downpour did get game one tickets when they became available at 3 p.m. Wednesday. We were happy to see those guys who were ripping Philadelphia get in to see their beloved Yankees lose.
