MyFox Philly report
Susan Finkelstein’s lawyer says she was chained to a bench by Bensalem, Pa., cops after she was arrested for allegedly offering sex for Phillies tickets. She strongly denies the charges.
Finkelstein and attorney William Brennan spoke at length about her case with Fox 29’s Mike Jerrick and what the sudden fame has meant to her family.
“It hasn’t been easy, but there is a huge outpouring of support,” Finkelstein, noting that neighbors and strangers have offered their open support.
Brennan said that despite the humorous slant given by the media, his client's case is serious and Finkelstein faces two years in jail, if the case goes to trial in January and she is convicted.
Finkelstein told Jerrick that all she wanted to do was buy tickets by placing an ad in craigslist. The ad was placed in a non-adult section of the Web site.
“I think it was a perky ad,” she said. “I met at a bar with someone I thought was a construction worker.”
Finklestein could not comment on claims by police that she offered the officer sex acts in exchange for World Series tickets.
“We can’t get into it. It’s too close to the facts of the case,” Brennan said.
“There’s a lot of hype in this World Series, it’s kind of a campy case, but Susan is facing serious charges. We have to take that part seriously.,” Brennan added.
Finkelstein also said she has “huge respect for law enforcement.” But she though the whole incident was a prank.
“It was a shock. It felt like I was being punked.”
Brennan said Finkelstein also told undercover cops she wanted to meet in a public place for her safety.
She was then placed in handcuffs inside the bar, at a local mall.
“They took her to a police station and chained her like a dog to a bench for two hours,” Brennan added.
“I hope somebody (in Bucks County) is law trained and reconsiders the case,” Brennan said.
Finkelstein did get free World Series tickets from a radio
station on Wednesday morning.
Radio DJ Chio from Wired 96.5 gave two tickets to Finkelstein
and her husband for Game 3 in Philadelphia.
On Wednesday night, Finkelstein tells Fox 29 she's the
biggest Phillies' fan around with her favorite player being Jamie
Moyer.
"The anger has really started to also grow along with a sense of absurdity of how widespread this has become," Finkelstein told Fox 29's Kerry Barrett.
She and her husband, John, have been married for 12 years and the Phils have been a constant.
"I've seen or listened to part or all of every game this season so it's just a great source of pleasure for me and my husband," says Finkelstein.
Finkelstein has a preliminary court hearing scheduled for December 3.
