PHILADELPHIA - The Eagles' Jon Runyan will be out for as long as six months after later January knee surgery, according to a report in the Philadephia Daily News.
Runyan will be a free agent this month and the Eagles have until February 27 to sign the veteran tackle.
However, the injury could affect Runyan's status on the free agent market.
The player groomed to replace Runyan, Shawn Andrews, is also uncertain for next season because of a back injury and personal issues.
Runyan played for much of the 2008 season with the injury, paired with another veteran free-agent tackle, Tra Thomas.
The pair's fate is a key issue for an Eagles team that just missed a trip to the Super Bowl.
