While Jets running back Shonn Greene has failed to make the most out of his carries since a breakout day in Oakland, injuries and performance are giving a group of other running backs the chance to prove themselves.
An injury to Falcons running back Michael Turner means Jerious Norwood could take the lead rusher position many fantasy football owners have hoped he would since coming into the league. But with Norwood coming off an injury of his own, fantasy owners should also consider part-time fullback Jason Snelling.
"Snelling is much more likely to score," FantasyVictory.com expert Paul Charchian said. "Norwood is more likely to catch passes and rack up attempts. Snelling is healthy, which, for now, gives him a short term advantage."
An injury to Cedric Benson has the Bengals moving to sign released running back Larry Johnson, but Bernard Scott is likely to start in his place.
"He’s been in the system, he knows the plays, and he was very good in the preseason," Charchian said. "Johnson is built more like Benson, and might be a goal line back though. For now, Scott looks like the better pickup."
