Talk won’t die down about a possible trade of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to the St. Louis Rams, as soon as this weekend.
An earlier report in St. Louis this week had current Rams head coach Steve Spagnoulo lobbying for the Rams to get McNabb in a trade. That report was clarified to state that the Eagles and Rams had not yet discussed a trade, but it was just a scenario that the Rams had discussed internally.
A second report on ProFootballTalk.com on Thursday has McNabb going to the Rams for a second-round draft pick as soon as this Friday.

The logic behind this deal, which PFT discusses in detail, is that the Rams would have to agree to a long-term contract extension with McNabb before the trade could be made.
All parties involved have not commented about a McNabb trade or denied the existence of talks.
The NFL free agency period starts at 12:01 a.m. Friday and the Eagles have said they expect to be active.
With prize free agents such as Julius Peppers and Aaron Kampman expected to get big contracts, the Eagles could save at least $10 million by trading McNabb.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter Bryan Burwell said on Tuesday former Philadelphia Eagles’ defensive coach Spagnoulo and Rams’ management are debating about McNabb or Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford as the team’s quarterback in 2010.
Burwell’s report triggered denials from most parties involved, but it would make sense for both teams.
Former Eagles quarterbacks coach Pat Shurmur is also the Rams offensive coordinator.
The Eagles could get a second-round pick from St. Louis, which would be as good as a first-round pick, given the Rams’ draft position.
The Rams could then pick a defensive lineman like Ndamukong Suh and Gerald McCoy, with their first pick
The Eagles could then sign Kevin Kolb to a long-term contract and then draft two young players with what would essentially be two first-round picks, and use the money saved from McNabb to sign a big-name free agent, like Julius Peppers.
