Fox 29's Joe Staszak is at the Novacare Complex in South Philadelphia with the latest on the Eagles' plans.
Staszak reported that "defense, defense, defense is the top priority tonight" for the Eagles after their secondary gave up 27 touchdowns last season.
First up: a report surfaced early Thursday evening on ESPN.com that had the Eagles and New York Giants in trade discussions over Osi Umenyiora.
Those reports were quickly denied in New York and through an NFL Network reporter in Philadelphia.
Another hot rumor has the Eagles trading with Miami for the 12th pick, which they would use on Texas safety Earl Thomas.
Staszak said look for the Birds to move up in the draft and possibly take a cornerback or a safety in the first round.
With Sheldon Brown having been traded to the Browns and the tenuous health of Ellis Hobbs, a cornerback may be the direction they go.
But certainly don't rule out the possibility that Coach Andy Reid takes a lineman Thursday night, as he likes to build from the inside-out, Staszak said.
