PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid will finally speak with reporters at 12 p.m. on Tuesday about the 2011 season and some new coaching hires.
Live At Noon: Reid Presser On Eagles’ Web Site
Reid was scheduled to speak with the media right after the Eagles finished their 8-8 season in early January
The press conference was delayed as team owner Jeff Lurie spoke instead in public.
At that rambling event, Lurie spoke at length about how disappointed he was in the team and then gave Reid a vote on confidence.
As the weeks went by, Reid said little as the media spoke about the fate of defensive coordinator Juan Castillo and the rest of Reid’s staff.
On Monday, the team finally said that Castillo would return as defensive coordinator and that former Temple star Todd Bowles would join the Eagles as a defensive assistant.
The Eagles reportedly wanted to interview Bowles last year for the defensive coordinator position but were denied permission by the Miami Dolphins.
The Dolphins released Bowles after he was the team’s interim coach at the end of the 2011 season.
Bowles has been mentioned as a potential NFL head coach and he is a veteran defensive coach.
The other big offseason issue has been the status of free agent receiver DeSean Jackson. The Eagles have until March to place the franchise tag on Jackson or let him hit the open market.
That franchise tag would cost the Eagles about $9.4 million for the 2012 season, meaning team would need to move a veteran like Asante Samuel or Cullen Jenkins to absorb the hit.
The Eagles also need to agree to long-term deals with LeSean McCoy and Jeremy Maclin.
